THE 13TH ANNUAL VUS TESOL CONFERENCE
Glocalization, a combination of globalization and localization, has become evident in a variety of industries. While glocalization manifests itself the most in international businesses, the process of glocalization in academia is also taking place in response to global forces.
So what does glocalization mean for English Language Teaching? While the trend towards globalization emphasizes the continuing need for teaching and learning English as a global lingua franca, there is an urgent need for a blending of teaching theory, attitudes and strategies from English-speaking countries with the local teaching practices, learning styles and educational contexts to serve the demands of the local learners. The growing phenomenon of English as a lingua franca and the notion of glocalization has sparked our interest in the theme “GLOCALIZED ELT: TRENDS AND PRACTICES”, which will serve as the focal point of the 13th VUS TESOL Conference.
How have the glocalized features of English changed the practice of English language teaching and learning? What are some recent global trends in English language teaching and what are their impacts on English language teaching and learning in Asia in general and Vietnam specifically? What are some of the implications which glocalization has for English language teaching and teachers in Vietnam? What should educators and teachers of English in Vietnam do to benefit from these glocalized trends and bring out the best in learners?
VUS would like to invite you to submit proposals related to the above theme and sub-themes.
